Sewing a quilted hi vis jacket

I have been dreaming of sewing myself a hi vis jacket made up of quilted pieces to wear while I cycle around town. Most of my cycling trips are short journeys to and from the post office, the beach or collecting the kids from school.
I was tired and annoyed with my very standard old builders hi vis jacket that flaps around when I cycle and the velcro on the front wasn't sticking anymore. The perfect time to finally sew this dream I had been having.
I found an orange and yellow vest in my local charity shop and set to work.

Using the silver reflective strips was also a must! I loved the idea of having a classic quilted star on the back of the vest.

My quilting is not the neatest but I enjoyed the process!

Once I had attached enough squares to create the back and front pieces I used the Matchy Matchy Sewing Club free pattern to create the vest pieces.
